Precious Moment in Zoo Negara - Jiah Yee
Day 1
Day 1
This was the first day of our group when
we went to Zoo Negara and be a one day volunteer. Early in the morning, we
gathered at the 3rd residential college gate and departed to the Zoo
Negara by cars. After an hour journey, we reached our destination. There was a
briefing session before we get separated into two groups and start our work at
different places. Four group members and I were assigned to help the zoo keeper
in the herbivore area. NOW is our photos show time!!
Our tasks given were clean the animal
shelters such
as deer, goat, tapir, and porcupine
then feed them. It was a good opportunity
to let
us get so close to the animals and take care of them.
After 8 hours of volunteering, we were all exhausted yet we felt really satisfy with what we have done. We had a good cooperation with our zoo keeper and he has share with us a lot of animal habits that we could not learn from the text book. Besides, we also realize that working as a zookeeper was not an easy task. They need to prepare the foods that are suitable for each animal and care for their health at the same time. Without their effort, we would not be able to see these healthy and lively animals in the zoo.
